12.13 Keystone Talk Speech Event
EVENT: ORIENTATION IN TIME AND SPACE & FAIRNESS AND DEVELOPMENT
Narratives, Inclusivity, and Perceptions Inform Latest ‘Keystone Talks’ Monologues
Several Middle School (MS) student speakers took the Performing Arts Center stage on Tuesday (December 17) to deliver Keystone Talk monologues on “Orientation through Time and Space” and “Fairness and Development”—or two of the six Global Contexts in the Middle Years Programme (MYP). Student speakers detailed their understanding of how narratives and social contexts shape the evolution of certain words and shared insights into embracing inclusivity and developing meaningful connections. Another speaker gave a hot take on bridging the gap between perception and reality, especially about relatable struggles with assessments and grading. Aside from the speeches, Keystone Talk featured the interactive Pyramid Word Guessing game and the “Stage of Chronicles” performance, which expressed the experiences of MS students and expanded the understanding and value of MYP Global Contexts beyond the confines of the classroom. The student-led Keystone Talk series offers a platform for Keystone students to express their voices and go deeper into the Keystone values, identities, collective goals, and the MYP Global Contexts embedded within each MS subject and unit.
